How do I apply for a job at MSD?

MSD has established an internationally standardised application process with its online career portal. If you are a specialist or manager interested in an advertised position at MSD, please always apply for the relevant vacancy directly via the career portal. To do this, you must first create a personal profile. Please understand that we cannot process (unsolicited) applications sent to us by other means, e.g. by post or e-mail. If there are no suitable positions listed for you at the moment, you can upload your profile to the MSD Talent Community via ‘Sign Up Now’. Based on your saved search criteria, you will be automatically notified by email when a position of interest is posted.


What documents do I need to submit?

In addition to your CV and (work) references, we would also appreciate it if you could send us a compelling letter of motivation.


What file formats can I upload to the MSD careers portal?

The system accepts many file formats, including PDF and Microsoft Word, but not .zip or .odt. Please note that individual documents or files must not exceed 5 MB in size.


Is my personal information secure?

We take your privacy very seriously. Please read MSD’s Privacy Policy and the Career Portal Terms of Use. Applicants must agree to these terms before submitting their application.


Can I delete my personal information?

You have the right to access, modify, correct or delete the data stored in your personal profile at any time. If you do not wish to delete your personal data, please write to the Data Protection Officer at the email address provided in the Privacy Policy (euprivacydpo@msd.com) to request the deletion of your personal data.


What happens to my application after I have submitted it to the MSD Career Portal?

Upon completion of your application, you will receive a system-generated email at the email address you provided confirming the successful submission of your application. Our Talent Acquisition Consultants regularly review all applications received. If your qualifications and experience match the requirements of a vacant position, you will be contacted by phone and/or email.


When will I get feedback on my application?

You will normally receive feedback within three weeks. If you do not receive feedback, we will not be able to consider your application at that time. Our Talent Acquisition team will endeavour to send you a written rejection. However, we will keep your application on our systems so that we can consider you for future vacancies. We therefore recommend that you check your profile on our careers website from time to time to ensure it is up to date and update it if necessary. If your profile is not updated and you do not request that your data be deleted, your application will be automatically deleted after two years.


What happens if I get a positive response?

Many of our recruitment processes start with a phone call between you and one of our Talent Acquisition Advisors or the relevant line manager. In some cases, we invite interesting candidates directly to one or two face-to-face interviews on site. Depending on the role, you will have the opportunity to meet other MSD colleagues with whom you will be working alongside your potential line manager.


I am looking for an apprenticeship, internship or working student position - how can I apply?

We offer students, graduates and future trainees the opportunity to gain initial work experience in various areas of MSD. Vacancies for apprenticeships, internships and working student positions are published on our official job board Welcome to MSD Austria | MSD Careers.


Can I hand in my application in person at an MSD location?

Unfortunately, we are unable to process applications submitted in person, by e-mail or by post. Please note the points above. Please understand that we can only consider your application for current or future vacancies if you submit it directly via our online career portal.


There are no suitable vacancies listed for me at the moment. Can I still submit my application on the Career Portal to be considered for future vacancies?

Yes, you can still submit a general application to MSD to be considered for future vacancies. Please register or log in and create your profile under ‘Applicant Sign-In’. If there are no suitable positions listed for you at the moment, you can add your profile to the ‘MSD Talent Community’ via ‘Sign Up Now’. Based on your saved search criteria, you will be automatically notified by email when a position of interest is posted.
